FAQs - What We Believe

Some of our foundational beliefs are listed and explained here.

The Scribal Conservatory believes that the Bible is Holy. We believe that it represents the authentic revealing of God, His Son Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit. We believe that it is the infallible, inspired Word of God for those who believe. We believe it is the most critical catalyst in the life of a believer for understanding the ways, works, word and worship of God in addition to prayer and study. We believe it offers practical instruction and insight for everyday living for the believer – including setting the tone for the exercising of wisdom, morality and instruction concerning how we are to interact with humanity on every level.

Psalm 119:89 NIV, Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.”

John 5:46 NIV, “If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 CJB, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.”

The Scribal Conservatory believes that Jesus Christ was conceived by Holy Spirit, born of a Virgin and sent into the earth to show us how to receive the Kingdom of Heaven through the gift of salvation. We believe that Christ lived, was crucified for our transgressions, died for our sins, was buried and resurrected for the atonement of mankind, humanity.

Matthew 1:18 NIV,This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.”

John 8:24 NKJV, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe me that I am He, you will die in your sins."

John 1:1 NIV, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (This whole chapter)

John 1:14 NIV, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Philippians 2:6-11 NIV, “Though he was in the form of God, he did not regard equality with God something to be possessed by force. On the contrary, he emptied himself, in that he took the form of a slave by becoming like human beings are. And when he appeared as a human being, he humbled himself still more by becoming obedient even to death — death on a stake as a criminal! Therefore God raised him to the highest place and gave him the name above every name; that in honor of the name given Yeshua, every knee will bow — in heaven, on earth and under the earth — and every tongue will acknowledge that Yeshua the Messiah is Adonai — to the glory of God the Father.”

We believe that a person much choose Christ to receive the promise of salvation through Jesus Christ. Salvation is personal and is initiated in the heart of those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Lord, Savior and the only Son of the Living God. We define “personal salvation” as making a conscious and deliberate choice to acknowledge His life, death, burial AND RESURRECTION - recognizing that He is the only way to the Father, and the promise of eternal life. We encourage the acknowledgement and believe in the confession of sin, repentance from sin and the acceptance of forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is gifted to us by God’s immeasurable grace and mercy; and His immense compassion and love toward mankind.

John 14:16 NIV, “Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Romans 10:8-12 NIV
, “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Galatians 2:19-20 NIV, ““For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

We believe that God still speaks! We believe that hearing Him is not only foundational to the life of a believer, but critical to our faith and belief, spiritual growth and development. Truly man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. This includes discerning God’s will and purpose for our lives, ministry and the Body of Christ; releasing and receiving prophecy and prophetic utterances; as well as operating out of prophetic mantles and gifts (miracles, signs, wonders, tongues); and callings to fulfill God’s will. We believe that hearing God and experiencing God’s power just as the apostles in the early church is an inherent right of a believer.

Matthew 10:8 NIV, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

1 Corinthians 14:1 NIV, “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.”

1 Corinthians 14:3 NIV, “But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.”

Ephesians 4:11 NIV, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers...”

We believe in the PERSON and WORK of Holy Spirit in the lives of believers and in the congregation. We believe Holy Spirit reveals the heart of God to mankind, convict’s humanity of sin and guides us into all truth. We believe that Holy Spirit is to be recognized, honored, obeyed and that we are commanded not to grieve Him. We believe Holy Spirit empowers us to complete the work of the ministry through wisdom, callings, giftings, skills, etc. We also believe in the Baptism of Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

John 15:26 ESV, “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, the will bear witness about me.”

John 16:13-14 ESV, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”

Acts 1:8 ESV,But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 10:19-21 ESV, “And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation, for I have sent them.” And Peter went down to the men and said, “I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason for your coming?”
